Bharat Ramamurti served as Deputy Director of the National Economic Council and Advisor for Strategic Economic Communications in the Biden-Harris Administration from 2021 to 2023. In this role, he worked with Congress to advance several landmark pieces of economic legislation. He also helped lead policy efforts across a range of areas, including student debt, competition policy, small business, broadband, housing, technology and social media platforms, and financial regulation. He regularly appeared on television and at White House press briefings to discuss the Administration’s economic agenda.
Prior to joining the Administration, Bharat was appointed by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to serve as a Member of the Congressional Oversight Commission for the CARES Act, which oversaw approximately $500 billion in government spending. He previously served as a lead banking and economic policy advisor to Senator Elizabeth Warren, including during her presidential campaign.
